given 'woof' luv!

Crikey it is warm here in Melbourne ... I don't mind the heat but it was one of those days yesterday where the temperature guage hit the 'lets not do anything but sit inside with the air conditioner on and watch movies' :)  so no cardmaking yesterday!
This morning is a little better to make cards and I made a nice quick one following the sketch from AnnaBelle Stamps #047.  I made it a Clean and Simple card with this sketch and included the challenges from CAS-ual Fridays - use a pun (given woof luv - substitute 'with' with 'woof'!!!) and also Through the Craftroom Door - CAS and with a sentiment.  Here is my card ...

here is the sketch I followed - I rotated it 90 degrees ...

materials - White cardstock, Core 'dinations sunflower cardstock; Jillibean Soup 'watermelon gazpacho' papers; AnnaBelle Stamps 'party animals 1' stamps, MFT 'mini banner day alphabet and die set'; StazOn timber brown ink; Marvy pens - blender 0, orche 13, dark brown 18, prussian blue 29, persimmon 89, Tombow grey N75; Kaisercraft rhinestones.
Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Smiles

Hey there everyone.  Not a very productive Saturday afternoon - I kept making mistakes and measuring wrong!  I nearly gave up on the card below - I made it for this weeks challenge over at AnnaBelle Stamps blog - say it with background stamps and also thought I would have a go at their Topical Tuesday - faux silk which is where you stamp on tissue paper - the lovely Sue Walsh has created a great tutorial here at Stamp, Embellish, Create.  Here is my card using stemmed flowers and BBD 2 stamps

and a close up - I stamped the flowers on tissue, layered it on jac paper (double sided stickers).

for the back ground stamp - I created a frame and stamped the one of the single icons, that comes with Background By Design 2, continuously I tell you I stamped that little icon so much that in the end it became blurry!  After assembling it all I applied liquid pearls to the flower centers and randomly in the center of the single icon.
materials - Core 'dinations aquarium cardstock, AC sand cardstock; AnnaBelle Stamps BBD2, stemmed flowers stamps; Versa Color celadon, bamboo and scarlet inks; Kaisercraft pearls; Ranger baby blue and ruby red liquid pearls; Daisy D's cardboard diecut tag; Inque velvet trim.
Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend.

Day 15 CPS - wish you were here

WOO HOO!!!! I made it to the final sketch of Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary Celebrations ... all 15 sketches done and dusted ... well 14 at least, here is the 15th!  Sketch # 231 ...

and my card ...

a close up (sorry the image is a little blurry) of the window ...

I layered the windows and curtains and then created an 'inside' scene and this is on the inside of the card ...

I loved making this card - it feels like you are looking in someones house window and seeing their lounge room!!! and the 'empty window' digital stamp from Crafty Pad is great to use.
materials - AC straw cardstock; Echo Park 'for the record' papers; Crafty Pad 'empty window' digital stamp, Hero Arts 'wish you were here' stamps; StazOn jet black ink; Crayola colouring pencils.
Thanks for looking.

Day 13 CPS - a little something just for you

Hi ya all, here we are at Day 13 of the Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary celebrations and I have made a card that is quite different to what I normally make ... it involves a little distressing, some lace and a handmade flower ... so it is my form of shabby chic :)  Here is sketch # 121 ...

here is my card ...

and a close up of my hand made flower which I made using some very old flower punches ... do you remember the whale of a punch 'retro flower' ? ... well I was looking at blogs and through a link and then another and then another etc... I came to the Cheery Lynn Designs blog and they had made a series of flowers using their dies - now I don't own any but as I looked through it the last flower (rose) looked like the 'retro flower' so I gave it a go using the large and medium flower ...

basically all I did was punch the flowers, curled them using a broad tip embossing tool and a little bit of curling and bending with the fingers then I arranged it all together and viola!
So the card is not what I normally do but I am very happy with it!  I am also submitting it for the challenge at Paper Sundaes - choose from the sundae bar (cream, blue, distressing and pearls) I managed to incorporate all 4)
materials - Core 'dinations harborside cardstock; DCWV 'spring fling' paper and cardstack; AnnaBelle Stamps 'squared posies' (title); Versa Color celadon ink; Paper shapers 'whale of a punch' retro flower large and medium punches; Sizzix 'leaf and stem' die; Paper Inklings colour me doilys; Kaisercraft pearls.
Thanks for looking.

Day 12 CPS - Be Happy its your day

Nearly there ... thought I would use Sketch #118 from Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary celebration to stock up on emergency birthday cards.  Sort of struggled with this sketch at the beginning - the bow in the middle really stumped me!

in the end I was very happy with the card and loved the colour combo of light blue and orange (went through a phase before christmas when everything was light blue and yellow because I loved that colour combo .. now I have changed to light blue and orange :)

Thought I would do a little colouring in with my Marvy pens and blender.
materials - Bazzill apricot cardstock, Core 'dinations harborside cardstock; Watercolour paper; Echol Park 'country drive' papers; Hero Arts 'be happy' stamp set, Grant Archival 'small birthday set' stamps; StazOn jet black ink; Marvy Pens - blender 0, orche 13, leaft green 48, citrus yellow 69, sky blue 75; Spellbinders petite scalloped circles large dies; Creative Memories circle cutters; Ranger white opal liquid pearls; heart button; 16mm blue with flowers satin ribbon.
Thanks for looking.

Day 11 CPS - Happy Birthday from both of us

And here is my 2nd card for today and it is a male birthday card for the challenge over at Kaboodle Doodles and also following the Day 11 sketch from Card Positioning Systems, sketch #170 ...

I sort of went off the sketch a bit but once you see the 2nd photo you will see that it is quite close to the sketch.   male cards can be quite difficult and I always resort to farm animals and have some sort of interaction / mechanical element to it ... so for this card I really had to think outside the 'farmyard' so to speak ...

this is my first go with the MFT woodgrain fence die and I decided that I would create a gate in it ...

so the mechanical / interaction element is you open the gate to reveal the 2nd part to the title.
I am really happy with the way this male card turned out ... I hope Neils 26 year old cousin likes it :)
materials - AC white cardstock, Bazzill honeycomb cardstock; Kaisercraft 'nans' favourite' papers, JS 'apple cheddar soup' and 'watermelon gazpacho' papers; FernGully cow and bull stamps, AnnaBelle Stamps 'party animals 1' (title) stamps; MFT woodgrain fence, flat bottom clouds and wonky scallop border (used as a tree/bush line!) dies; Provocraft dot embossing folder; Marvy pens - blender 0, pale orange 16, dark brown 18, leaf green 48, sky blue 75 and Tombow grey N75; Twinery twine.
Thanks for looking.

Day 10 CPS - mum I've always ...

Hi there bloggers ... carrying on with Day 10 of Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary challenges I made a card following sketch # 26 I have rotated it 90 degrees and believe it or not made it into a mothers day card ... I know I am REALLY early but we will be away cycling and I will be sending it before we leave and instructions for her not to open until mothers day which is the 2nd Sunday in May :)

and my card ...

It is nice and bright ... perfect for my mother who is not really your 'muted colours' type!
I love the papers from JS 'blossom soup' - I really love the bright polka dot paper and have paper pieced my elephants.  I am also submitting for the challenge over at Cupcake Crafts - entwined, use twine:)
Materials - White cardstock; Jillibean Soup 'blossom soup' papers; Stampendous 'elephant always' set; StazOn jet black ink; Jillibean Soup 'blossom soup' cardstock stickers and butterfly sugar picks; Twinery pink twine.
Thanks for looking and enjoy your Valentines day:)

Day 9 CPS - simply wonderful birthday

Thought I would try something a little different for the Day 9 sketch at Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary celebrations.  This is sketch #5 ...

sort of went off the sketch a bit but the basics are there!  instead of 4 circles I substituted it for the title and bling either side of it ...

materials - White cardstock, AC cricket cardstock; Paper Inklings 'family' papers; Prima 'life is sweet' stamp, MFT 'polka dot greetings' stamp; StazOn jet black ink, Versa Color smoke blue ink; AnnaBelle Stamps pink sprinkles; MFT 'branch with leaves' die.
Thanks for looking.

Day 8 CPS - monster birthday

And my last card for the night - I really enjoyed making this card from sketch #102 from Card Positionings Systems 5th Anniversary Celebrations.

Again a very CAS style card and it worked well with the sketch ...

I think this is an ideal card for a girl :)  The original stamp is a boy monster but I cut away the crown and inserted a bow and gave here toenail polish to girly her up a bit ... unfortunately this is not my idea - I have borrowed it from the very talented Sue Kohler - thanks Sue :)
I am also entering this as my 2nd card for this weeks challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays - paper piecing.
materials - Bazzill apricot and parakeet cardstock; AC vanilla cardstock; Jillibean Soup 'apple cheddar soup' papers; AnnaBelle Stamps 'lil monsters' balloon' and 'christmas baubles' stamp sets, Sassafras Lass 'stitched borders; stamps; StazOn timber brown ink, Versa Color lime ink; Fiskars round the bend punch; MFT bracket tab die; Kaisercraft rhinestones; Marvy pens - blender 0, orche 13, pale orange 16, dark brown 18.

Day 7 CPS - you crack me up

Well I am up to Day 7 for the Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary Sketch Celebrations so nearly half way, I have to say that I am enjoying the sketches so far :)
Here is sketch #247 ...

I have a stamp set from Jillibean Soup called 'eggcellent' and I absolutely adore it! it is so fun and cheeky that it fitted perfectly with the sketch ...

I am also submitting it for CAS-ual Fridays which has paper piecing this week.
materials - AC white cardstock; DCWV 'spring fling' papers and cardstack; Jillibean Soup 'eggcellent' stamps; StazOn jet black ink; Ranger 'white opal' liquid pearls; Inkssentials glossy accents.
Thanks for looking.

Day 6 CPS - be mine

I have had a very productive cardmaking card this afternoon and I finally settled on a valentines day card for Neil (after making several for other challenges I think this is my favourite card :)
I resumed my Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary Challenge and here is the sketch from Day 6 - sketch #37.

It is a fabulous sketch to use and here is my card ...

hopefully Neil will do as the card says and 'pulls' the bracket tab ...

and a close up ...

I love making interaction cards!  The stamp on the pull out tab is from AnnaBelle Stamps 'squared posies' which has a collection of titles and I just mixed and matched to come up with what I wanted to say.
I have made this card for the challenge over at AnnaBelle Stamps blog - say it with red, black & white, Scrapbook Boutique - reds, pinks, blacks and whites and the theme 'love' and also for Through the Craftroom Door - a valentines card for a male and not allowed to use pink.
materials - AC white and black cardstock; Kaisercraft 'nan's favourites' papers, Echo Park 'for the record' papers; AnnaBelle Stamps 'party animals 1' (mouse), Squared Posies (hapiness is ...) and Katie &Co 'heart candies'; StazOn jet black ink; MFT mini banner day alphabet and die set, bracket tab die; Kaisercraft rhinestones; Ranger 'white opal' and 'ruby red' liquid pearls.
Thanks for looking.

Happy 1st Birthday

Well took a couple of days away from the craft room to go to Colac to pick up our little pouch (he stayed with Neils' parents while we were in NZ) and he was absolutely estatic to see us and I must admit I was estatic to see him :)
This afternoon I made this card for my sister who requested a 1st birthday card - not too sure when she wanted it by (I have to send it back to NZ) and I hope it gets there in time.

and a close up ...

I must admit that I loved making this card - normally I don't make 'baby' type cards but I remember the last one I made I ended up liking it.
I followed the sketch from Mojo Mondays, and drew inspiration from this months challenge over at Jay Gee's Nook blog.

I am also entering it for this weeks challenge over at Pixie Dust Studio - use 2 or more images - and I have used 2 giraffes.
materials - Core 'Dinations kiwi cardstock, Bazzill red slipper, apricot, pistachio cardstock; Jillibean Soup 'apple cheddar soup' papers; Verve 'to the moon' stamps, MFT 'mini banner day alpha and die set', AnnaBelle Stamps 'party animals 1' stamps; StazOn timber brown ink; Marvy pens - orche 13, dark brown 18 and blender 0; Sizzix oval tags die; American Crafts thickers; Ranger 'buttercup' liquid pearls; Kaisercraft bling.
Thanks for looking.

Day 5 CPS - hugs and kisses

Here is a valentines card that I made following the Day 5 sketch from Card Positioning Systems - it is sketch #138 ...

Here is my card following the theme from AnnaBelle Stamps blog - say it with hearts ...

I have stamped and embossed the heart on vellum and backed it with white cardstock ...

There are lots of inspiration for this card - Secret Crafter #171 challenge which is 'hugs & kisses' (hence my title:), Paper Sundaes - clean and simple, Cupcake Crafts #178 challenge - pink and red, Party Time Tuesdays - valentines and Top Tip Tuesdays - valentines and I have a TIP this week - if you don't have the right rhinestone, pearl or bling to match your card - hole punch some of the patterned paper you have used or cardstock, attach it to your card and then apply glossy accents to them (or something similar) - they look like 'matching rhinestones' and to give it that 'raised effect' to make it even more like rhinestones keep adding more layers of glossy once each layer has dried and you end up with a nice little curve :)
materials - white cardstock; AnnaBelle Stamps 'Background By Design 5' and 'Lil monsters' balloon' stamps; MFT 'mini banner day alphabet' stamp set; Stampin Up purely promegranate, Versa Color orchid, VersaMark watermark inks; Vellum; white embossing powder; Heat tool; Sizzix sixxlits heart #5; Satin trim; AnnaBelle Stamps pink sprinkles.
Thanks for looking.

Day 4 CPS - you simply shine

Day 4 over at Card Positioning Systems is sketch #220 - at first I struggled with the sketch - don't know why but once I got going the elements seemed to come together nicely!

here is my card using stamps from Unity Stamps 'shine on' - love that set!

a close up of the paper pieced lamp and small butterflies that I fussy cut from the patterned paper ...

and the title which I seperated from the main title and stamped on a circle and applied liquid pearls to the outer edge to give it a little more detail ...

I was very happy with the end result for this card - a little different to what I normally do and probably as close as I will get to making a shabby chic card :)  What I really like about this card is the colours - vanilla, brown and light blue - simply gorgeous.
I am submitting this for the 'share a card' over at Designed 2 Delight.
materials - AC white cardstock; DCWV 'spring fling' mat pack and cardstack; Unity Stamps 'shine on' stamps; Stazon timber brown ink; Creative Memories circle cutter; Provocraft Silent Setter and eyelets; Ranger baby blue liquid pearls; The Twinery 'cappacino' twine; Kaisercraft rhinestones.

Day 3 CPS - birthday wishes

Well I am back home in Australia and although sad to leave the whanau I am happy to be in the craft room - I tell you it is difficult to make cards with a very limited supplies!
So back into the swing of things I am starting to work my way through the sketches from Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary celebrations - here is the sketch from day 3 (yes I know I am way behind :))  The sketch is an early one - #54

and here is my card - it is for a 1 year old ...

and a close up of the animals ...

I really enjoyed making this card and I drew inspiration from the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays 'on the red carpet' - be inspired by a movie and for me the I used the animals as inspiration from the movie Dr Dolittle.  I am also submitting it for the challenge at Birthday Sundaes - birthday card with a sentiment and Designed to Delight - share a card.
materials - Bazzill piglet cardstock, AC aqua and butterscotch cardstock; Jillibean Soup 'sweet & sour' papers; Verve 'to the moon' stamps, Grant Archival 'birthday sentiments' stamps; Stazon timber brown ink; Crafters Workshop - mini scallop swirls template; Marvy pens and blender; Kaisercraft large number chipboard; black journalling pen; hole punch; cord.
Thanks for looking.

CPS day 2 - A little something just for you

Okay this is my card for day 2 of Card Positioning Systems 5th Anniversary celebrations.  I really loved the way this card turned out and I have made it for one of my sisters as it is her birthday in March and I wanted to get it done before I leave.
The sketch is #166

and here is my card ...

and here is a close up of the ball and chain tag ...

The flower has been stamped on patterned paper and fussy cut and reassembled.
materials - AC bubblegum cardstock; DCWV 'Spring Fling' matstack and cardstock stack; Penny Black 'to you' stamp set; StazOn jet black ink; Crayola Colouring pencils; 16mm pistachio satin trim; ball and chain ring; Creative Memories circle cutters; hole punch
Thanks for looking.

CPS day 1 - celebrate

Card Positioning Systems is celebrating their 5th Anniversary over 15 days!  There is a sketch a day (from previous sketches) and heaps of prizes to win.  So I am a few days behind so I will have to catch up (they are already up to day 5!).
Here is the sketch & my card for day 1 - it is sketch #136

and here is my card

At first I sort of didn't like the card but after adding the liquid pearls it grew on me, in hindsight (which is a wonderful thing :) I should have inked the edges of the paper but I sort of forgot to and thought about it later once everything is stuck down ... don't you just hate that!
materials - white cardstock; DCWV 'Spring Fling' matstack and cardstock stack; Penny Black 'to you' stamp set; Stazon timber brown ink; Crayola Colouring pencils; Ranger liquid pearls; Kaisercraft rhinestones
Thanks for looking.

I.O.U

I finished of this card for my nephew this morning after the decision to celebrate his 20th birthday this Sunday a little earlier than his actual birthday (14th Feb - Valentines baby!).  The joke amongst the family is that he and his sister, as they got older and worked to get their own money, they never use to have enough money to buy their parents presents for their birthdays so they use to give them I.O.Us' :)  I remember joking with them one time that I might give them an I.O.U for their birthday to teach them a lesson ... or better still their parents may give them one :)  So I thought this card was very appropriate for my nephew ... off course I will put a little something in it later but I will let him sweat for a bit!

The letters I,O & U are cut away from the edge of a brown card and then mounted on the card to stand above the fold crease.

I am submitting this card for the 'recycle' challenge over at Cupcake Crafts this week - I have used buttons as my recycle element.  This is quite a good challenge for me as I am in NZ at the moment visiting the family and have very limited crafts supplies with me and I had to ask my mother if she had any spare buttons lying around to use as embellishments for this card!
materials - AC cardstock; Jillibean Soup 'christmas eve chowder' papers; Grant Archival 'birthday phrases' stamp; Versa Color magenta ink; Everlasting Keepsakes chipboard letters as templates; Twinery cappacino twine; Ranger liquid pearls; buttons
Thanks for looking.
